Where it falls down and does damage to people's businesses and dreams is when Big Ernie gets an offer from a start-up company - A company that wants explosive growth in its first years and momentum they can capitalize on to get the company on the map. So they give Big Ernie a sweet-heart deal to bring his team over.

When they leave the old company its a disaster.

This is one of reasons I would wait a couple of years before going with a new company. Be a little wary if you find that Big Ernie is new to the company, has a few old friends in his downline and they have been in other young companies recently. I would hate Big Ernie to take half my downline when he goes on to greener pastures in the second year.

MLM at its 'attractive' best

Think longer term and prospecting gets easier. If you are ethical and have found an ethical company it makes sense to sponsor people with experience.

Make a habit to keep in touch with MLMers you meet no matter which company they are with. Chances are, over the next few years, some of the companies won't perform and your contact will be looking for an ethical person to do business with in another company.

Create a professional relationship with them so that they will pick you. I guess it is a pretty open MLM secret and just good business sense.
